Sarajevo, BiH – Fakultet islamskih nauka (FIN) / Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo now offers a Master’s program (M.A.) in Islamic Studies “Islam in Europe” in English – as a response to the urgent need for English speaking religious leaders (imams, chaplains, basic education teachers, etc.) in Muslim communities across Europe and other western countries.
Aim of the new program is to educate new religious leaders in the heart of Europe as the ‘importing’ of personnel trained in Muslim countries outside of Europe has generally proven an inadequate solution for cultural reasons.
The new program was approved by the Council of Muftis and Riyasat of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it’s fully in line with the Law on Higher Education of Sarajevo Canton and the Statutes of the University of Sarajevo. Upon completion of the master’s program, participants will be awarded the academic title of Master of Islamic studies.
